About the Book

And Still We Rise

The Power of Philanthropy

This is not a book about charity. It is a book about power — the quiet, persistent, transformative power of people who choose to invest in others. Over thirty years, Higherlife Foundation has walked alongside hundreds of thousands of children, families, and communities across Africa. This book tells that story. Not from a distance, but from within it.

And Still We Rise: The Power of Philanthropy brings together the voices, experiences, and hard-won lessons of a movement built on faith, action, and an unshakeable belief in what is possible. It is honest about the struggle. It is clear about the cost. And it is certain that the work is worth it. Whether you have given your life to this work, are just beginning to consider what your own contribution might be, or simply want to understand how lasting change is made — this book was written for you.

The work continues.

Higherlife Foundation has reached more than 400,000 learners, trained thousands of healthcare workers, and supported communities across Africa through crisis, drought, and disease. None of it happened by accident. All of it happened because people chose to act. This book is an invitation to understand how — and perhaps to ask yourself what your own part in it might be.
